High schools: Smith Academy field hockey blanks Holyoke

McKenna Valentine and Karlie Guimond each scored in the first half as the Smith Academy field hockey team beat Holyoke, 2-0, on the road Tuesday.

Bailey McCoy assisted Valentine on the first goal, while Elena Baranoski fed Guimond on a corner for the Falcons (2-0-0) .

Baranoski, playing center back, guided a defense that did not allow a shot on goal.

Cheyenne Dunn was strong in net with 16 saves for the Purple Knights (0-3).

Amherst Regional 3, Franklin Tech 1 — Annabelle Olendzki found the cage twice in a road win. Zora Dallman also had a goal. Elena Humbeck added an assist.

The Hurricanes (2-1, 2-1 Tri-County) outshot Franklin Tech 20-4. Lydia Sullivan saved three shots for Amherst.

Girls volleyball

Frontier Regional 3, Agawam 0 — Olivia Deane had 13 kills, five digs and two blocks in a 25-14, 25-19, 25-12 win.

Olivia Rosewarne distributed 24 assists for the Red Hawks (3-1, 1-0 Eastern).

Jalen Sullivan added four aces and four kills. Morgan Martineau put down five kills.

Longmeadow 3, Amherst Regional 2 — The Hurricanes won the first two sets 25-17, 25-20 but couldn’t close out an Eastern League foe on the road. Longmeadow swept the last three sets 25-16, 25-16, 15-12.

Nicole Lambert had 13 kills and six digs. Olivia Hogans had nine kills, 10 digs and an ace.

Tricia Sittauer added five blocks, and Mayouri Yath had four for Amherst (1-1, 0-1).

Jordan Machowski served three aces with seven digs. Amelia Beigel dished 33 assists and dug seven balls.
