High schools: Hampshire softball routs West Springfield to stay perfect

Maggie Rubeck and Hannah Marney each had four hits as the Hampshire Regional softball team beat West Springfield, 18-3 in five innings, Saturday.

Rubeck was 4-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Marney was 4-for-4 with two triples, four runs scored and four RBIs.

Bri Sulikowski added a triple, double and two RBIs in the win.

Eighth grader Jocelyn Mettey struck out four, walked four and worked around six hits for visiting Hampshire (3-0).

Boys lacrosse

Tantasqua 12, Northampton 4 — Raphael Gomez-Thomas scored twice, while Yano Porter and Jake Delisle each had one, all in the third period, Saturday at home.

Jay Mahoney had one assist and Jonathan Marshall made six saves for Northampton (1-3).

West Springfield 10, Belchertown 3 — Owen Sedlacek, Owen Palmateer and Matt Pacheco each scored, while Griffin Weiss had one assist for the Orioles (2-2), Saturday on the road.

Nick Fellion made five saves in defeat.
