High schools: Frontier’s Gunnar Moore wins Division 2 title at Western Massachusetts Golf Invitational

Frontier Regional’s Gunnar Moore shot a 1-over 73 to win the Division 2 championship at the Western Massachusetts High School Invitational, Saturday at The Country Club of Greenfield.

Moore finished tied for third overall with Galen Fowles, of Northampton, and Chris Camerlin, of Longmeadow.

Max DiGrigoli, of Lenox, carded a 1-under 71 on the 6,337-yard course to win the overall championship. He was also first in Division 3.

Tucker Silva, of Longmeadow was even-par to finish second and win the Division 1 title. Fowles was runner-up in Division 1.

Amherst native Ryan Leonard, of Pope Francis, was 3-over and in a three-way tie for sixth overall. He was runner-up behind Moore in Division 2.

In Division 1: Piet Hartman, of Amherst Regional, tied for seventh with an 82. Belchertown teammates Brady Perkins (10th, 85), Riley Breen (11th, 88) and Ryan O’Neill (13th, 92) also competed.

In Division 2: Kyle Maynard, of Frontier, was fifth with an 80, while teammate Mike Corduff (81) and Pope Francis’ Jaelyn Deboise tied for sixth. Levi Zielinski, of Hampshire Regional, was eighth with an 84. South Deerfield’s Ben Zaranek (85), of Pope Francis, tied for ninth. Easthampton’s Tyler Cortis (94) was 13th.

Hopkins Academy’s Connor Asselin was fifth in Division 3 with a 93.

Boys soccer

Hampshire Regional 1, West Springfield 0 — Grady Fern scored with an assist from Aidan Mik in the fourth quarter as the Raiders won on Saturday. Colin Boyle made seven saves in the shutout.

Field hockey

Longmeadow 4, Belchertown 0 — Abigail Rothstein made 21 saves but the Orioles fell on Saturday.

Girls soccer

Belchertown 8, Ware 2 — Avery Klingensmith scored three goals, while Alexa Laflamme and Sarah Sedlacek each had two as the Orioles cruised on Thursday.

Erin Lucas (goal) and Olivia Vogel each had two assists. Alexa Ribeiro added one helper.
