A strong second quarter gave the Frontier Regional boys basketball team a lead at halftime against Hoosac Valley.

A strong fourth quarter sealed the win.

The Red Hawks outscored the Hurricanes 25-9 in the fourth quarter to win, 75-50, Thursday in South Deerfield.

The Red Hawks (4-1) outscored Hoosac 22-10 in the second quarter to lead 38-30 at halftime.

Carsten Carey scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Frontier. Carey missed the previous two games with an injury.

Alex Sharp added 10 points in the win for

Franklin Tech 74, Gateway Regional 40 — Jayden Santiago-Lopez had 15 points and Evan Cortis added 10 points, but the Gators (0-6) fell at home.

Smith Academy 45, Athol 42 — Brett Gratz had 23 points, while Max Bartlett had 13 points and 12 rebounds as the Falcons (3-4) held off the Red Raiders in Hatfield.

Easthampton 46, Palmer 41 — Ronan Mottor scored 19 points to help the Eagles rally for a win over the Panthers.

The Eagles (4-1) overcame a 14-point halftime deficit in the victory.

Longmeadow 66, Amherst Regional 39 — Akeme Hilson-Mallory scored 12 points for the Hurricanes (0-4) in a setback at Longmeadow.

Pioneer Regional 44, Belchertown 39 — Brothers Corey and Jordan Lanoue each scored 10 points, but the Orioles (2-4) fell on the road.

South Hadley 68, Ludlow 30 — The Tigers drained 10 3-pointers to grab its first win of the season on the road.

Hunter Carey led South Hadley (1-7) with 14 points followed closely by 12 apiece from Hunter Borowski, Brady Marion and Austin Robinette.

Southwick 61, Granby 57 — Brandon Wishart scored 20 points, but Granby (4-3) could not fully rally from a 16-point halftime deficit at Southwick.

Carrick Remillard added 10 points in the loss.

Girls basketball

Frontier Regional 69, Athol 37 — The Red Hawks (3-2) outscored the Red Raiders (2-4) 20-5 in the second quarter and led 40-17 at halftime en route to the road blowout.

Amelia Sobieski had 19 points to pace Frontier. Marie Diemand added 14 points and Olivia Deane 12.

Ice hockey

Easthampton 8, West Springfield 2 — The Eagles (4-2) led 5-0 after the first period and never looked back.

Christopher Tenczar had two goals and two assists, while Garren Fugiel had two goals and one assist. Jake Batcheldor and Ely Boyle had a goal and an assist apiece. Mike McColgan and John Zatowski each scored once.

Tyler Galpin and Cole Growhoski had one assist each. Tyler Cortis made 19 saves.

South Hadley 6, Wahconah 4 — Cam Pete and Matt Brunelle each had two goals, while Kadryn Laramee and Thenis Tsilibocos had one each for the Tigers (5-1).

Ben Watkins, Mike Mazza, Joe Cigal, Ryan Tucker and Luke Hunter had one assist apiece. Anthony Cigal made 24 saves in the win.
