High schools: Easthampton girls volleyball sweeps Belchertown

The Easthampton girls volleyball team remained undefeated on the season with a 3-0 victory over Belchertown, Thursday in Easthampton.

The Eagles won 25-20, 25-9, 25-23.

Briana Santiago (ace) paced the offense with 11 assists. Lanah Carson (two kills) had seven aces, while Meghan Teague added four kills.

Skylar Raskevitz contributed all over the court with two kills, nine aces and 16 digs for the Eagles (2-0).

Pioneer Christian 3, Smith Vocational 0 — Yannibell Agosto Flores had two digs, while Haleigh Pensivy (kill), Jordan Dunham and Yenaira Pazo each had one for the Vikings in the 25-12, 25-8, 25-11 loss.

Golf

During a practice round on Thursday, Hampshire Regional sophomore Levi Zielinski recorded a hole-in-one on the 160-yard, par-3 fourth hole at Beaver Brook Golf Course in Williamsburg. He used a 6-iron. Teammates Owen Lech and Justin Porter, and coach Dan Korpita witnessed the ace.

Belchertown 181, Pathfinder 202 — Ryan O’Neil, Riley Breen and Dan Chrzanowski each shared medalist honors with 44s as the Orioles won at Cold Spring Country Club in Belchertown. Caleb Reardon added a 49 in the win.

Frontier Regional 21½, Mohawk 2½ — Mikey Corduff fired a 1-over 36, and Gunnar Moore added a 4-over 39 to pace the Red Hawks (3-0) at Edge Hill Golf Course in Ashfield.

Corduff and Moore each scored four points. Frontier’s Rowan Blair (42) swept four points at No. 3.

Palmer 13½, South Hadley 10½ — Keegan Earle shot a 42 and took four points out of the third position, while Nick Hartley had a 47 and took 3½ out of the No. 2 spot, but the Tigers fell at Quaboag Country Club.

Hopkins Academy 203, Mahar 238 — Connor Asselin fired a 47, while Cody West and Liam Flynn each had a 49 as the Golden Hawks won at Ellinwood Country Club.

Boys soccer

Hampshire Regional 3, Agawam 1 — The Raiders scored two goals in the second quarter to take a 2-1 lead, then added an insurance tally in the third en route to the road win.

Grady Fern had a hand in all three goals. He scored once and assisted on goals by Charlie Por and Aidan Miklasiewicz.

Colin Boyle made 10 saves for Hampshire (1-1).

Gateway Regional 1, Smith Vocational 1 — Senior Dylan Fil tied the game with 39 seconds left on an assist from Cole Boisvert as the Vikings pulled out a draw on senior night in Northampton.

J.E. Holmes gave the Gators a 1-0 lead in the first half.

Gateway goalie Preston Coffey and Smith goalie Louis Kollmeier each made six saves.

Westfield 8, Holyoke 0 — Keegan Kukucka finished with 10 saves for the visiting Purple Knights.

Girls soccer

Westfield Tech 2, Smith Vocational 1 — Madison Clark scored with an assist from Ella Sherman, and Emily Cortis made five saves, but the Vikings fell on the road.

Boys cross country

Mahar 25, Hopkins Academy 30 — Seventh grader Teddy Cyr finished second in 20:42 on the 3.1-mile course, while Cade Lanzafame was third in 20:46, but the Golden Hawks fell at home.

Chris Rex was sixth (21:39) for the Golden Hawks. Zach Locher finished ninth (25:39) and Jackson Graham 10th (25:44).

Mahar doesn’t have a girls team, but Holpkins still sent its runners out.

Sylvie DiBartolomeo was first (22:17), followed by Aurora Donta-Venmen (25:12) and Caprial DiBartolomeo (25:25).

Field hockey

Agawam 5, Hampshire regional 0 — Olivia Labrie had 15 saves for the Raiders, who made their home debut during their inaugural varsity season.
