Lulu Kesin, Emily Sledzieski and Jill McGrath combined for four first-quarters 3-pointers to spark the Northampton girls basketball team to a 73-47 victory over host Westfield, Friday.

The Bombers (4-3) opened in a box-and-one defense on Amanda Mieczkowski, but her teammates shot Westfield out of that plan.

Mieczkowski then scored eight second-quarter points as Northampton (5-0) led 39-16 at halftime. Mieczkowski finished with 26 points.

Sledzieski added 11 points and Kesin 10. McGrath chipped in with eight points.

Palmer 52, Belchertown 48 — The Orioles trailed 15-0, but rallied to tie 25-25 at halftime. Belchertown held the lead for most of the third quarter and was up 39-33 with 90 seconds left when Sonia Dugger and Elise Pikul went to the bench with foul trouble.

The Panthers (4-1) took advantage and closed with a 7-0 run for a 40-39 edge entering the fourth. Palmer took an eight-point lead late and Belchertown closed within a possession, but that was as close as the Orioles (2-3) got.

Pikul finished with a career-high 21 points along with six steals. Dugger had a career-high 20 rebounds to go with her five points.

Greenfield 49, South Hadley 33 — Mia Kelly scored a game-high 20 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Tigers (2-3) to overcome the Green Wave at the Hoosac Holiday Tournament.

Sam Smith scored 19 points to pace Greenfield (6-0). Raegan Hickey added 16 while Katie Haselton chipped in the other 14 points.

Pathfinder 24, Smith Vocational 18 — Haleigh Pensivy scored five points to lead the Vikings (2-3) in a low-scoring loss at home.

Agawam 54, Granby 26 — Nora Young had 10 points and Kayla McCreary added seven, but the Rams (1-3) fell at home to the Brownies (4-2).

Hopkins Academy 51, Athol 30 — A.J. Mitchell scored 15 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and stuffed four shots to lead the Golden Hawks on the road.

Allison Kowal-Safron scored a game-high 20 points for the Golden Hawks (5-2), who played with leading scorer Samantha Jenks.

Mohawk 50, Easthampton 31 — Val Murphy scored 11 points but it wasn’t enough as the Eagles (0-4) fell at home.

Sabis 49, Hampshire Regional 43 — Maggie Rubeck scored 15 points as the Raiders (2-3) fell in Springfield. Lila Labrie and Maddie Pond both chipped in 10 points.

Gateway Regional 31, Sci-Tech 25 — Lily Waters had 11 points and Becca Herman added eight as the Gators won in Huntington.

Boys basketball

Hampshire Regional 54, McCann Tech 50 — Dominik Lewinski had 15 points and 14 points to lead the Raiders to their first win of the season.

Colin Boyle and Julian Greve both chipped in career highs with nine points each for the Raiders (1-5).

Northampton 64, East Longmeadow 34 — Jaeden Johndrow scored 17 points to lead the Blue Devils at home.

Michael McCarthy and Anthony Dejesus both scored nine points and collected 12 rebounds for the Blue Devils (3-2).

Boston Holiday Challenge — Amherst Regional senior Kai Bailin placed fifth in 36.2 seconds in the 300-meter dash at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center.

The Hurricanes’ 4x400 relay finished third in 3:32.05.
