High schools: Four Northampton girls basketball players finish in double figures in road win over Holyoke

Four Northampton players in finished in double figures, as the Blue Devils notched a 59-25 victory over Holyoke in girls basketball action Monday night at John “Jinx” O’Connor Gymnasium in Holyoke.
Bri Heafey led the way with 17 points for Northampton, while Emme Calkins (16 points), Anna Oravec (12) and Liv Joensen (10) also cracked double-digits in the win.
Holyoke’s Kylie Blaha paced her side with a team-high seven points.
Lenox 44, Frontier 42 – With the Franklin County League North title on the line Monday night, there was no question the game was going to come right down to the wire in Lenox.
A late Frontier rally pulled the Redhawks even on a Skyler Steele putback with 27 seconds remaining, but Lenox didn’t go away. With the clock winding down in the waning seconds, Jocelyn Fairfield corraled a missed 3-pointer and put back the rebound off the glass just before the final buzzer to lift the Millionaires to a wild 44-42 victory.
Lenox (17-0, 11-0) stayed unbeaten and secured the outright FCL North title with the win. Frontier dropped to 15-2 overall, 9-2 in the league – both losses this season coming at the hands of the Millionaires.
Smith Voc 57, Westfield Tech 17 – Makayla Tatro poured in 18 points and Nyia-Marie Forbes added 12 as the Vikings cruised to a 40-point victory on Monday.
Smith Voc improved to 12-5 with the victory.

Granby 52, South Hadley 44 – Gavier Fernandez poured in 21 points, and the host Rams scored a huge victory in a battle of top Hampshire County teams Monday night in Granby.
Granby (13-4) trailed 38-35 after three quarters, but the Rams outscored South Hadley by a 17-6 margin over the final eight minutes to rally for the win.
The Rams led just 26-25 at halftime but the Tigers used a 13-9 edge to take the lead into the final stanza.
Riley Goodhind notched 10 points for the Rams and Raymond Colon hit a big 3 in the fourth quarter and finished with eight in the win.
Jack Loughrey’s 19 points led the Tigers (13-4), which also received double-digit scoring games from Noah Hambley (12 points) and Tim Loughrey (11).
Minnechaug 57, Amherst 36 – The Hurricanes struggled to get going offensively, scoring just seven points in the first quarter and 15 in the first half in a loss on Monday.
Sabir Douglas led Amherst, which trailed 29-15 at halftime, with eight points.
Ware 72, Smith Voc 46 – Dom Sanchez led all scorers with 21 points, but the Vikings were unable to keep pace with high-powered Ware in a loss on Monday night.
Luis Delerme chipped in seven points for Smith Voc.
