Smith Academy’s Caitlin Graves totaled an unbelievable eight goals and one assist on Friday to reach 100 career points in the Falcons’ 10-0 win at Taconic.

Graves is the third player in Smith Academy soccer history to reach the milestone, joining Riley Intrator, Class of 2023, and Cassidy Snyder, Class of 2014, according to Falcons athletic director Jason Duncan. 

Graves has been on a tear this season as Smith Academy has rocketed to a 4-0 start. She scored four times against Pioneer in the opener, seven times against Mount Everett in the second game of the season, and once more on Wednesday against SICS.

She entered Friday’s game needing nine points to reach 100 for her career, and scored Smith Academy’s first six goals of the day, including five in the first half. In the first eight minutes of the second half, she scored her sixth and seventh goals of the game and added her first assist of the season on a goal by Anna Scagel. She reached the 100-point milestone with the final goal of the game ten minutes into the second half off an assist from Scagel.

Through four games, she’s totaled 20 goals and one assist. Smith Academy takes the field next on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. at Hopkins Academy.

Hopkins 7, SICS 1 – The Golden Hawks scored at least seven goals for the third straight game to open the season and now sit at 3-0. After a goal in the fourth minute by SICS, Hopkins fired back with three goals of their own before the 20-minute mark. Helen Vissas scored twice and added an assist and Sadie Cyr tallied a goal and an assist. Other goals came from Morgan Augustin (from Gabriela Perez Lozano), Aurora Moynihan and Layni Bailey Ephie Vissas (from Olivia Earle).

Frontier 3, Smith Academy 0 – Frontier moved to 4-0 this fall thanks to a goal and an assist each from Maddie Fagan and Skyler Steele. Maggie Nichols also scored and Jazzy Hayes notched an assist. Aylen Shaw made seven saves in net.

Hampshire 3, Agawam 2 – The Raiders came back from down 2-0 at halftime to pull off the win, led by two goals from Libby Puttick and one from Shayne Moynahan. Addie Miklasiewicz added two assists and Moynahan added one, and Ella Cleary made 10 saves.

Belchertown 3, East Longmeadow 0 –  The Orioles won their second straight match on Friday, defeating the Spartans 25-21, 25-22, 25-18. Gianna Picardi paced Belchertown with 13 kills and three aces, while Vivian Ross added 20 assists.

Frontier at Athol, 6:15 –  Frontier took its third consecutive straight-set victory Friday night at Athol, winning 25-17, 26-24, 25-7. Bailey Martin led the team with seven kills and Caitlin Maio added four more in a balanced effort from the Redhawks. Setter Parrish Stilla contributed 11 assists and libero Melanie Ring led Frontier with seven digs, while outside hitter Sophia Pinardi recorded three blocks.

The Redhawks take the court next at home against longtime rival Longmeadow on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Field hockey

Frontier 3, Belchertown 1 — After suffering their first loss of the season earlier in the week, the Redhawks stormed back with a solid win against good competition on Friday.

The host Redhawks turned a one-goal halftime lead into a 3-1 independent victory. Macy DeMaio, Amelia Bouchard and Ashley Taylor scored goals for Frontier (3-1), with DeMaio also notching an assist. Frontier goalie Kyra Richards stopped two shots in net.

Belchertown’s Kina Roy scored for the visitors, with Mya Philpott notching an assist. 

Northampton 4, Smith Academy 1 – Camilla Brewer scored a pair to lead the Blue Devils to a win Friday. Jenna Talbot and Talyn Fishman also scored, while Sophia Jagodzinski recorded Smith Academy’s goal. Madison Didonna Renner made nine saves for the Falcons.

Golf

McCann 172, Smith Voc 196 – The Vikings’ low scores were 48s from Pat Gougeon and James Lavallee.

Girls soccer

Northampton 12, Palmer 2 — The Blue Devils erupted for a dozen goals and coasted by the Panthers for a 10-goal win on Thursday night behind four goals from Willow Claps.

Livi Busone, Lilah Sage and Allie Sullivan each tallied twice while Olive Little and Maddie Aimi-Starkoski scored once for Northampton, which took a 7-0 lead into halftime. Sullivan also recorded three assists and Sage had two. Anna Oravec didn’t have to make a single save in goal.
