Smith Voc came back from down two sets to one against Franklin Tech in Northampton on Monday, winning 25-21, 20-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-11.

Heidymar Diaz-Lopez led the Vikings with another stellar all-around performance – 15 assists, 20 digs and 11 kills. On the defensive end, Jaelyn Kulas made a whopping 56 digs, Abby Desrochers made 23, Irelyn Marcoux made 21, Hecmarie Diaz-Lopez made 17, Roma Bentrewicz made 15 and Brook Wolcott made 12.

Desrochers also had eight kills and Nyia Forbes contributed eight kills of her own, in addition to six blocks.

Since losing to South Hadley in five sets on Sept. 11, Smith Voc has reeled off nine straight wins, including a 3-0 mark in five-set matches. Next up, the Vikings travel to South Hadley for a match on Wednesday at 5:15 p.m.

Amherst 3, Easthampton 1 – The ‘Canes secured a hard-fought victory Monday night, winning 26-24, 22-25, 25-6, 25-21 on the road. Lidie Buttrick led the Eagles with seven kills and Camilla Corsello had six to go along with four blocks. Summer Routhier and Brooke Skowron each tallied six assists and Skowron also recorded six digs. Kaylin Dumas led Easthampton with eight digs.

Girls soccer

Easthampton 0, Amherst 0 – Neena Chinappa made nine saves in goal for the ‘Canes and Addison Barr made 10 for the Eagles.

Belchertown 2, Minnechaug 1 – All three goals on Monday were scored in the second half, with Belchertown’s goals coming from Mia Corish (assisted by Morghan Litz) and Fallon Clancy (assisted by Alexa Karabetsos). Jill DeBarge made three saves in goal for the Orioles.

Greenfield 3, Smith Academy 1 – Jayden Place scored an unassisted goal 26 minutes in, but Greenfield scored three times in the second half to pull away with the win. Madison Zononi made 18 saves in goal for the Falcons.

Smith Voc 3, Athol 2 – Cameron Ball scored the game-winning penalty kick in the 78th minute to lead the Vikings to a late win Monday. Joshua Cole grabbed a goal and an assist to Jacob Maloney.

Easthampton 6, Ware 1 – Finn Garvey recorded two goals and two assists, Brayden O’Connor totaled two goals and an assist and Easthampton rocketed to its sixth win of the year. Jayden Brown also scored and Talha Mannan and Ethan Mullaly tabbed assists.

Field hockey

Frontier 2, Greenfield 0 – Addison Harrington scored twice, off feeds from Ashley Taylor and Amelia Bouchard.

Smith Academy 1, Northampton 1 – Haly Doucette-Kaplan scored the late equalizer for Northampton off a Camilla Brewer assist. Sophia Jagodzinski scored for Smith Academy, assisted by Alexa Jagodzinski. Smith Academy goalie Madison Didonna-Renier made four saves and Northampton goalies Lanaiya Rodriguez and Charlotte Johnson-Mersack made three and two saves, respectively.

Golf

Hampshire 161, Amherst 198 – Amherst’s Ben Scott shot the lowest score of the day (38), but Hampshire’s top four of Brayden Fennessy (39), Ashton Lashway (39), Robert Herman (41) and Riley Florek (42) carried the Raiders to their 17th win of the season, against just two losses. The Hurricanes also got scoring from Nate Ziomek (48), Graham van Geissen (54) and Phineus Pyecroft (58).

Hopkins 177, Easthampton 181 – Ryley Regan took home medalist honors yet again with a 35, followed by teammates Jack Dyjach (40), Chace Earle (48) and Jessica Waskiewicz (54). Easthampton received scoring from Amelia Gruber (40), Mikey Aubrey (41), Kaden Cormier (46), Jacob Murrett (54) and Angelo Torchia (54).

Tantasqua 164, Belchertown 166 – Michael Murray led the Orioles with a 37 at Cold Spring’s par-36, followed by Jared Haynes (41), Brady Jolly (41), Nathan Fink (47) and Daniel Hulmes (47).

South Hadley 159, Frontier 163 – The Tigers edged the Redhawks to improve to 13-2 behind the efforts of Jameson Webber (37), Ryan MacGregor (38), Matt Blaser (42) and Ryley McMahon (42). Frontier received scoring from Ryan Cetto (36), Cam Skiffington (38), Porter Hall (41) and Jacob Cornelison (48).

Boys soccer

Northampton 2, Central 1 – Will Senn-McNally assisted Sam Busone for the equalizer early in the second half and then scored the game-winner on an assist from Owen MacLachlan late in the second half on Friday. Salem Gregory made seven saves in goal.

Frontier 4, Easthampton 0 – The Redhawks scored all four of their goals in the first half on Friday, including two within the first five minutes. Ian Paciorek scored a pair and Ben Cachiguango and TJ Donovan added one each. Eric Larsson, Donovan and Henry Pleasant provided assists. Frontier goalie Jack Cusson made one save and Easthampton goalie Sam Barr made 10.

Smith Academy 5, Southwick 1 – Cajun Benson exploded for four goals to turn a 1-1 halftime tie into a big win for the Falcons on Saturday. Benson scored in the 15th, 37th, 46th and 63rd minutes and Jack Brady added a goal in the 44th. Matt Scagel totaled three assists and Benson had one.

Field hockey

Holyoke 4, West Springfield 1 – Siobhan Armstrong scored a hat trick and Gracie Chesmore added a fourth to lead the Purple Knights to a home win Friday.
