The Belchertown girls soccer team held off Minnechaug in the first half, but the Falcons managed to sneak a goal past the Orioles midway through the second half for a 1-0 victory on Tuesday in Belchertown.
Keepers Michaela Dubey and Jillian Debarge made six and four saves, respectively.
Belchertown fired 10 shots at Minnechaug goalie Makenzi Pastreck but she stopped everything the home team threw at her.
South Hadley 3, Agawam 0 — A Lauren Marjanski hat trick did the job for the Tigers on Tuesday, as they notched a 3-0 Kurty/Fielding victory on the road in Agawam.
Cianna Gurek and Gracie Deren notched assists for South Hadley (5-1), and goalie Drew Alley made 12 saves to record a clean sheet in net.
Boys cross country
Amherst 19, Minnechaug 44
Amherst 15, Westfield 50 – Will Larson placed first in the three-team meet with a time of 18 minutes, 33 seconds, just out-leaning Minnechaug’s Aren Brubach (18:33) at the finish line.
Nico Lisle (18:44) took third, Calvin Miller (18:52) finished fourth and Sam Woodruff (19:01) placed fifth for the ‘Canes. Alden Pope rounded out the scoring for Amherst with a 19:13 for sixth.
Longmeadow 21, Belchertown 35 – Though Belchertown's top five runners all crossed the finish line before Longmeadow’s fifth runner, the Lancers finished first through fourth on Tuesday, giving them enough of a cushion to best the Orioles.
Belchertown’s top finisher was Ben Les, finishing in 17:36 for fifth place. The Orioles top five runners all finished within 12 seconds of each other – Miles McNamara took sixth (17:43), Nate Fernandes finished seventh (17:44), Derek Gould took eighth (17:47) and Liam Howard placed ninth (17:48).

Easthampton 21, Monson 36 – Frontier’s top tandem of Luke Howard and Evan Hedlund took first and second overall at a four-team meet on Tuesday, crossing the line a second apart in 14:17 and 14:18, respectively, on the 2.75 mile course. Despite their top performances, Hampshire swept the board as a team, besting Frontier, Easthampton and Monson.
Hampshire’s Nick Brisson and Tim Cahill placed four and fifth, crossing the line in 15:36 and 15:39, respectively. The Raiders finished fourth through 11th, using their impressive depth to snatch the team wins. Oscar Schiff (15:40), Zach Jones (15:49), and Jack Laliberte (15:54) rounded out the scoring for Hampshire.
Easthampton’s Landen Ellsworth crossed the line first for the Eagles in 18:02.
Northampton 15, Chicopee Comp 48 – Alex Sirois took first for the Blue Devils in 18:25 and Pranav Belur took second right behind him in 18:28.
Johnny Parker-Yourga (third, 18:35), Gus Frey (fourth, 18:36) and Liam Ewers (18:43) also scored for Northampton.
Girls cross country
Amherst 15, Westfield 50
Amherst 25, Minnechaug 34 – Six of Amherst’s runners finished in the top 10 against Westfield and Minnechaug, helping them to a win on Tuesday.
Elizabeth Sawicki ran a 21:42 for third place, and Isla Cusick took fifth in 22:05. Lillian Pope (23:08) finished sixth, Felix Goeckel (23:24) took seventh and Maya Tkachenko finished ninth (23:46). Sixth runner Ava Zimmerman ran 24:04 for 10th.
Longmeadow 21, Belchertown 40 – Kami Wlodyka finished second overall in 19:58, but Longmeadow’s depth overwhelmed the Orioles at Foley Field.
Cameron Ting also finished in the top five with a 21:28 on the 2.8 mile course.

Monson 22, Easthampton 33 – Hampshire's Kathleen Barry broke the 18-minute barrier on a 2.75 mile course to win a four-team meet on Tuesday, but Frontier just edged out the Raiders by two points in the team finish.
Frontier’s Leah Gump placed second overall (18:02), followed by two other Frontier runners who cracked the top five, Sylvie DiBartolomeo (18:20) and Nicole Plasse (18:40). Hampshire’s Alexandra Henrichon took third (18:19) and Keegan Butler placed sixth for the Raiders (18:49). Frontier’s Maia Christensen also broke the 19-minute mark with an 18:56.
Easthampton’s Gwen Banz finished first for her team with a 20:56 for 14th place.
Gateway 15, Hopkins 50,
Gateway 23, Granby 35,
Granby 15, Hopkins 50 – Gateway’s Anya Niles finished the five-kilometer course first with a time of 24:09, helping propel the Gators to a sweep against Hopkins and Granby.
Hopkins’ Caprial DiBartolomeo finished second in 24:54 and Granby’s Addie Hill took third in 27:11. Sawyer Wilkinson took fourth (27:17) for Gateway and Granby’s Quinlin Cook rounded out the top five with a 27:26.
Northampton 16, Chicopee Comp 47 – Maeve O’Neil crossed the finish line first in 20:23 and Tess Geis-Benton took second in 21:30 in a near-perfect score against Chicopee Comp.
Also finishing in the top five was Mairead O’Neil in third (21:32) and Charlotte Shimpach in fourth (22:13). Zoe Engel was the Blue Devils’ fifth runner, placing sixth in 22:59.
Golf
Belchertown 153, Palmer 175 – Henry Poissant shot a low round of 37 for the Orioles, and all four Orioles who scored shot below 40 in a dominant win against Palmer.
Jared Haynes shot a 38 and teammates Michael Murray and Cal Orzech both shot 39s for Belchertown.
Northampton 163, Ludlow 175 – Galen Fowles shot the low round of the day with a 37 and brother Reilly also broke 40 with a 39 in a Blue Devils win.
Ben O’Connor (43) and Gus Fallon (44) also scored for Northampton.
Hopkins 163, Greenfield 171 — Ryley Regan fired a match-low 2-under-par 34, snagging medalist honors and aiding the Golden Hawks in a victory over Greenfield on Tuesday at the Country Club of Greenfield.
James Burke put together a solid round of 39 for Hopkins, while Liam Flynn (45) and Tyler St. Hilaire (45) were the team's other scorers in the victory.
Frontier 163, Chicopee Comp 169 – Frontier’s Ryan Cetto and Chicopee Comp’s Bryce Turnbull tied for medallist honors with the low rounds of 36, and the Redhawks bested Chicopee Comp in a tight matchup.
Cade Allenby helped give Frontier a boost with the second best round of the day, 38. Cam Skiffington shot a 43 for the Redhawks.
South Hadley 194, Chicopee 250 — The Tigers had the four lowest scores of the day, led by Ryan MacGregor's 45, to earn a comfortable victory on Tuesday at Chicopee Country Club.
Caiden Drohan was next with a 48, followed by teammates Ryley McMahon (49) and Jameson Webber (52).
Ware 209, Amherst 215 – Amherst's Ben Scott was the medalist with a 41, but Ware just eked out the win over the ‘Canes.
Nate Ziomek shot a 49 for Amherst.
Girls volleyball
Amherst 3, Mohawk Trail 0 — Annabel Ogden went for 19 assists and Liza Beigel notched 12 digs for Amherst in a sweep of the Warriors on Tuesday (25-17, 25-8, 25-17).
Lauren Joy put down a team-high eight kills for the Hurricanes, and Kiko Bhowmik followed with five kills. Ruby Austin's 10 aces powered an Amherst service attack that racked up 32 aces on the night.
Easthampton 3, East Longmeadow 0 — Erin Teague filled up the stat sheet, going for 14 assists, eight aces, 11 digs and two blocks as the Eagles notched a 25-15, 25-21, 25-21 sweep on Tuesday.
Kayley Downie amassed 20 digs in the win, while Addison Sigda (five digs), Kierra Carson (five kills, four digs), Emersyn Nadin (seven digs) and Kaelin Damon (nine digs, two kills) also aided the defensive cause.
Commerce 3, Smith Voc 1 – The Vikings fell in a closely fought match to Commerce, pushing the first two games to the limits (26-24, 24-26, 25-16, 25-19).
Heidymar Diaz-Lopez put up two blocks, eight digs and 19 kills and setter Roma Bentrewicz had 20 assists and two kills. Jaelyn Kulas also had eight digs and Jennifer Bouchard had four blocks.
Lenox 3, Belchertown 1 — Chrissy Santiago had a big night for the Orioles, racking up 11 kills and 10 digs in a four-set defeat to Lenox.Set scores were 25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 25-16.
Vivian Ross was busy all night at the setter spot, where she dished out 31 assists and contributed 12 digs. Ava Shea had nine kills and seven digs, and Gianna Picardi went for six kills, three aces and eight digs for Belchertown.
Field hockey
Greenfield 2, Frontier 0 — Goalie Kyra Richards made two saves for the Redhawks, which fell to their rivals, 2-0, in Suburban League action on Tuesday in South Deerfield.
West Springfield 2, Holyoke 1 – Siobhan Armstrong scored the Purple Knights’ only goal in a close loss to West Springfield.
Goalie Lyara Rodriguez made six saves in the loss.
Boys soccer
Hampshire 6, Mount Greylock 0 – The Raiders scored all six of their goals in the first half in a shutout victory, led by Aidan Miklasiewicz’s hat trick and a pair of assists.
Dan Martin scored twice and Owen Miller notched four points (1G, 3A) in the win. Aidan Moynahan had one helper and Hampshire keepers Liam Pond and Colin Holt made two and one saves, respectively.
Though he didn’t find the scoresheet, Brendan Stevenson also played a key role for Hampshire in the win, controlling the ball and setting up plays for his teammates.
Northampton 2, Chicopee 1 – Sam Busone and Koa Klose both notched goals for the Blue Devils and keeper Salem Gregory made four saves in the win.
Will Senn-McNally added a helper for Northampton.
Mahar 3, South Hadley 0 – The Tigers held Mahar to one goal in the first half but couldn’t score against the Senators.
Keeper Noah Carillon made four stops in the loss.

Holyoke 7, SICS 1 — A flurry of 20 Holyoke shots on goal led to its largest scoring output of the season, and five different Purple Knights players found the back of the net in a blowout win.
Emma Shoup and Kyra Lippman led the way with two Holyoke goals apiece, while Jaylene Moquin, Alivia Kaifer, and Veronica Colon each scored as well. Grace Bechard, Colon, and Lippman facilitated the offense with two assists each, and Shoup and Kaifer also pitched in assists.
