High Schools: Northampton golf moves to 7-1 with win over Ludlow

The Northampton golf team continued their hot start to the season and move to 7-1 with a tight win against Ludlow, 169-171 at the Ludlow Country Club on Friday afternoon.

Reilly Fowles (38) shot the low score for the day and teammate Aiden Keeling-Lococo finished second with a 40. Reed O’Connor shot a 45 and Jack Carpenter shot a 46.

Girls soccer

Pope Francis 2, South Hadley 0 – Olivia Athas made 11 saves in goal for the Tigers. South Hadley plays next at home on Tuesday at 6 p.m. versus Agawam.

Belchertown 2, West Springfield 1 – The Orioles broke a 1-1 halftime tie to move to 2-1-4 on the season after a hard fought Coombs battle on Friday evening. Maya Tellier scored and dished an assist to Morghan Litz. Goalie Jill Debarge made four saves.

Southwick 4, Granby 0 – Meredith Bartosz made a dozen saves for the Rams.

Boys soccer

Granby 2, Southwick 0 – The Rams scored twice in the second half to move to 3-2-1 on the season. Riley Goodhind assisted both goals, score by Jake Gagnon and Jaxton Roy.

Northampton 9, SICS 0 – Sam Busone and Derek Rivers scored twice each, and the Blue Devils also got goalscoring contributions from Ryland Breen, Will Senn-McNally, Bishop Loughery, Kai Webster and Jasper Cantor.

Field hockey

Southwick 6, Amherst 0 – The ‘Canes were shut out to move to 4-2 on the season.

Frontier 8, Holyoke 1 – Macy DeMaio scored a hat trick and Ashlie Galenski, Ashley Taylor, Rowan Reilly, Lauryn Kalinowski and Addie Harrington also tallied. Aiden McCarthy scored Holyoke’s goal, from a Grace Phillips assist. Lyara Rodriguez made 20 saves.

Girls volleyball

Smith Voc 3, Franklin Tech 2 – The Vikings were down a set twice on Friday, but they rebounded to win 12-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-23, 15-8. Abby Desrochers racked up three aces, a block, an assist, 12 digs and five kills, Roma Bentrewicz recorded four aces, 13 assists, seven digs and three kills and Heidymar Diaz-Lopez tallied four aces, nine assists, nine digs and 11 kills.

Easthampton 3, West Springfield 2 – The Eagles bounced back on Friday to beat the Terriers in five sets, winning 25-27, 25-19, 17-25, 25-18, 15-6. Lidie Buttrick led Easthampton with 13 kills, while Kierra Carson and Camilla Corsello each added six. Brooke Skowron paced the Eagles with 13 assists. Summer Routhier tallied seven assists of her own in addition to a team-high nine aces.
