High Schools: Chloe Moynihan scores twice in Hampshire field hockey’s win over Holyoke

Hampshire’s Chloe Moynihan scored twice and Ryleigh Fennessy assisted her both times, as the Raiders field hockey team picked up their second victory of the season on Thursday evening, 2-1 over Holyoke.

Kylie Blaha scored for Holyoke. Hampshire goalie Rylie Simmons made 10 saves and Holyoke goalie Laura Rodriguez made two.

Hampshire (2-7-2) takes the field next on Tuesday at Mohawk Trail at 7 p.m. Holyoke (6-8) hosts Palmer next, on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Frontier 1, Minnechaug 1 – Elsa Brown scored for Frontier and Kyra Richards made seven saves.

Girls soccer

Monson 4, Amherst 2 – Madeline Hockman and Neena Chinappa scored for Amherst and Sama Mady added an assist. Chinappa made eight saves in goal and Aaliyah Hall made one. 

Smith Voc 7, Commerce 0 – Erin Miller and Monique Fredette each scored twice and Caitlin Willard, Olivia Davis and Willow Hicks scored once each. Willard and Fredette each added two assists and Sophie Prukalski and Kate Wolcott added one apiece.

South Hadley 3, Chicopee Comp 0 – Cara Dean, Hannah Haesaert and Kate McArdle scored for South Hadley. Haesaert (two) and McArdle (one) contributed assists and Olivia Athas made a dozen saves.

Boys soccer

Granby 1, Mount Everett 0 – Cody White scored an unassisted goal in the second half to move the Rams to 8-2-2. Daniel Santiago made two saves in goal.

South Hadley 6, Lenox 1 – Jack Chagnon (two goals, two assists), Carlos David (two goals), Matt Gillis (one goal) and Spenser Parsons (one goal) all got in on the fun on Thursday, with Ben Gillis and Ari Alatalo supplying assists. Goalie Noah Carillon made eight saves.

Pioneer 1, Smith Academy 0 – Falcons goalies Jake Wilcox and Gavin Gammell combined to make 20 saves, but a 68th minute strike from Pioneer’s Kurt Redeker broke the scoreless tie and gave the Panthers the win. Smith Academy moves  to 8-3-1.

Easthampton 4, Southwick 0 – Younes Oulbeid scored twice and Finn Garvey and Sean Hopkins joined him on the scoresheet Thursday. Evan Davis, Garvey, Ethan Mullaly and Grady Cerrutti contributed assists and Sam Barr made seven saves.

SciTech 1, Gateway 0 – Gators goalie Zach Hess made seven saves.

Chicopee 6, Holyoke 0 – Landon Koziara made 10 saves for the Purple Knights.

Northampton 1, East Longmeadow 0 – Derek Rivers scored off a feed from Sam Busone. Goalie Salem Gregory made seven saves.

Girls volleyball

Belchertown 3, Easthampton 0 – The Orioles cruised to their ninth victory of the season Thursday evening, winning 25-15, 25-11, 25-17. Layla Liminski led Belchertown with 11 kills and Vivian Ross delivered 23 assists. Lidie Buttrick led Easthampton with four kills and ten digs, while Camilla Corsello made six blocks.

Golf

Smith Voc 194, Pathfinder 205 – Patrick Dabrowski (44) led the Vikings, followed by RJ Kaczenski (48).

South Hadley 167, Hopkins 213 – South Hadley capped its regular season with a 16-2 record thanks to a low score of 38 from Caiden Drohan. Matt Blaser (42), Luke Guiel (43), Ryley McMahon (44) and Liam Yates (44) followed behind. Jack Dyjach led the Golden Hawks with a 46, followed by Chace Earle (49), Laney Crutch (57) and Jessica Waskiewicz (61).

Girls soccer

Hopkins 3, SICS 0 — A trio of different goal scorers helped the Golden Hawks clinch the Pioneer League South title on Wednesday with a win over SICS.

Sadie Cyr, Aurora Moynihan and Helen Vissas tallied scores Helen Vissas and Ephie Vissas (two) combined for three assists. Emmalyn Schmidt stopped a pair of shots to earn the shutout victory.

Field hockey

East Longmeadow 6, Northampton 0 — The Spartans proved to be too much for the Blue Devils, as Northampton recorded just three shots on goal and trailed 4-0 at halftime in the loss.

Charlotte Johnson-Mersack was stellar in goal with 25 saves.
