WESTHAMPTON – The five school committees that are part of the Hampshire Regional School District will interview four finalists for the superintendent’s position this week.

On Wednesday, South Hadley Public Schools interim Superintendent Diana Bonneville and Susan Henrichon, assistant superintendent of Oxford Public Schools, will be interviewed in a joint meeting of the five school committees. On Thursday,  Beth Choquette, principal of Northampton’s Bridge Street School and Stacey Jenkins, principal of the Anne T. Dunphy School in Williamsburg will be interviewed by the committees.

The finalists were selected from 11 initial applicants and eight semifinalists.

The interviews will be conducted over Zoom and begin at 6 p.m. each day. The link for Wednesday’s meeting is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87613996543 while the link for Thursday’s meeting is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84358538567.

Gregory Bennett serves on both the William E. Norris School Committee and Hampshire Regional School Committee. He said that he’ll be looking at the management styles of the candidates and how they interact with others.

“That personal feel for each one,” he said.

He also noted that the last time Hampshire Regional looked for a non-interim superintendent, the search committee brought forward two finalists.

“I’m especially happy that there’s four to choose from,” he said, noting that they are “all very qualified on paper.”

The school committees that are part of the Hampshire Regional School District are the Hampshire Regional School Committee, Southampton’s William E. Norris School Committee, the Williamsburg School Committee, the Westhampton School Committee, and the Chesterfield-Goshen Regional School Committee. The district serves the communities of Westhampton, Williamsburg, Southampton, Chesterfield and Goshen. Additionally, Worthington sends its high school and middle school students to the district as well.

In order for a person to be hired for the superintendent’s job, all five school committees must vote to back the candidate. Hampshire Regional’s current superintendent is interim Superintendent Michael Sullivan.
