It was quite a year for the Hampshire Regional girls lacrosse program.

The Raiders, in their first year as the host school in a cooperative program after previously operating under the St. Mary’s umbrella, posted an 11-9 record and reached the MIAA Division 4 state tournament for the first time. While the season concluded with a loss to Winthrop in the Div. 4 preliminary round, Hampshire Regional players were rewarded for their efforts both on and off the field on Monday.

Hampshire was presented the MIAA Team Sportsmanship Award during the Division 1 girls lacrosse championship game between Westwood and Wellesley at Babson College on Monday. From the MIAA website:

“The MIAA Tournament Management Committee has approved an Annual Team Sportsmanship Award to be presented in every sport. The award(s) will be presented during the MIAA State Tournament. Nominated teams should exemplify the tenets of good sportsmanship to the highest degree and are not required to qualify for the state tournament for consideration. Award criteria include: Teamwork, Fair play/respect for opponents, Ethics, and Citizenship. Self-nominations are acceptable.”

Hampshire Regional was coached by Grace Ahrensdorf.
