Baseball roundup: James Lavallee helps Northampton Post 28 blank Aldenville

James Lavallee gave up just three hits and struck out eight as Northampton Post 28 walked away with a 3-0 victory over Aldenville in an American Legion Senior Division game at Szot Park in Chicopee on Monday.
Andrew Gagne, Henry LaFlamme, Elijah Rubinstein, Jamie Fowler, Cody Keel and Lavallee all hit safely in the victory.
Post 28 (4-2) took the lead with a run in the second after Gagne and LaFlamme singled and Liam Flynn loaded the bases with a walk. Gagne scored on a wild pitch to make it 1-0, and Northampton scored single runs in the third and sixth frames.
Belchertown 5, East Springfield 3 – A four-run top of the third inning propelled Post 239 to a road victory on Monday.
Belchertown stayed unbeaten at 6-0, and in first place in the Senior Division standings.
Cody West struck out nine in five innings of work to earn the win, allowing just two hits. Evan Ferguson tossed the final two frames, striking out one.
Beau Elson doubled and drove in three runs to pace the offense, while Dom Aloisi smacked two hits.

Belchertown Post 239 4, Pittsfield Post 68 3 — After a Spencer Waite RBI single tied the game at three apiece in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the game to extras, Beau Elson scored the walk-off run in the eighth – coming home on a passed ball to give Post 239 a win on Saturday.
Elson ripped a one-out double, then moved over to third on when Belchertown’s next batter was thrown out at first on a dropped-third strike before the Pittsfield miscue brought him home.

Jake Waller closed it out to earn the win, tossing two scoreless innings and giving up just one hit and one walk.
On Tuesday evening at Amherst Regional Middle School, the Amherst and Northampton youth baseball teams will face off in the championship game of the Western Mass. Suburban Baseball League Koufax Division – which spans from seventh to ninth grade.
First pitch is slated for 5:45 p.m. as the Battle of the Bridge adds another layer to its historic rivalry.
Also coming up is the 13U All-Stars Championship between Northampton and the winner of Southampton/Wilbraham. That game is scheduled for 5:30 at Florence Athletic Fields.
