The Northampton boys cross country team kicked off defense of its Western Massachusetts title with a 15-47 victory over Ludlow, Tuesday at Community Gardens.

Benjamin Gordon Sniffen finished first in 17 minutes, 51 seconds on the 3.1-mile course. Teammate Tobias L’Esperance was second second behind in second.

Hamp swept the top five spots. Simon LaClair was third (18:06) followed by Eben Savenson (18:29) and Ben Howe (18:51).
