It looked as if the Mahar Regional baseball team was going to pick up its first win of the season heading into the seventh inning against Smith Academy. The Senators held on to a 1-0 lead and kept the Falcons’ bats quiet throughout the entirety of the game.

But the Falcons woke up and came up with several timely hits, scoring one run in the seventh to send the game into extra innings. In the top of the eighth, they added another to go up 2-1. Harrison LaFlamme, who pitched all eight innings, slammed the door shut in the bottom of the frame to give Smith Academy a 2-1 comeback win on Tuesday afternoon in Orange.

Robert Slysz and Callan Payne tallied three hits apiece for the Falcons, with Payne driving in one of the big runs in the final two frames. LaFlamme added a base hit as well and Jake Wilcox came around to score a run. LaFlamme finished with 12 strikeouts and walked only two on the mound.

Smith Academy (2-7) snapped a five-game losing streak with the win, and will look to keep things rolling with two more contests coming this week.

Smith Voc 2, St. Mary’s 0 — Another game, another Vikings win and another James Lavallee gem on the mound. Lavallee struck out nine in 6 2/3 scoreless innings, and the two runs Smith Voc scored in the top of the first were enough to get the job done.

Kaleb Jorritsma and Gavin Kukucka (two hits) each drove in a run for the Vikings (9-0) while Jared Baer and Brayden Kukucka hit safely in the victory.

Greenfield 7, Hampshire 0 — Arthur Fitzpatrick was dominant for the Green Wave, striking out nine and only allowing four hits as the young Raiders squad struggled to score in Greenfield on Tuesday.

Jacob Sicard knocked two hits while Phil Morin added a base hit for Hampshire.
