It was a meet to remember for the Hampshire Regional gymnastics team.

The Raiders stole the show at Roots Gymnastics Center in Westfield on Sunday, overtaking host Westfield to capture first place and win the Western Massachusetts Championship by a narrow margin.

Hampshire’s total of 142.050 points was just 0.775 points ahead of runner-up Westfield (141.275), while Minnechaug took third place (135.750).

“It was a great way to end the season,” Hampshire coach Lisa Anthony said. “Last year it was the reverse with Westfield winning by 0.6 [points]. We got our highest score on record. Fun night of watching a lot of good gymnasts.”

Hampshire took the top two spots in the vault, as G. Pica-Smith won the event with a score of 9.3. Teammate Madelynn Hollister took second, just behind with a score of 9.250.

Hollister was second in the all-around competition, amassing a total score of 35.800. Westfield’s Annika Van Oostveen was the all-around champion, holding on by a narrow margin to win with a score of 35.900.

Hampshire’s Julia Sicard took second in the bars (9.000), and teammate Ryen Delisle was second in the beam.

Hollister tied for third on the floor (9.150), and Sicard was fourth (9.125).
