GREENFIELD — After three overdoses in just a few hours Wednesday morning, the Greenfield Police Department has issued a warning that a potent — and potentially lethal — batch of heroin may be circulating in the area.

“We are issuing an alert to advise users that there is a potentially dangerous potent batch of heroin within our community,” read a post on the department’s official Facebook page. “Please use caution if you, a loved one or a friend uses heroin in the immediate vicinity of Greenfield.”

Police said they do not have many details regarding the type or markings on the packets, but believed that it warranted an advisory, the post said.
