Greenfield and Amherst Regional will need just one win to advance to the Western Massachusetts Division 3A hockey championship.

The tournament’s top two seeds will have byes to the semifinals.

“These guys worked hard all season from Thanksgiving to today,” Greenfeild coach Adam Bouchard said. “It’s nice to have the top seed but we’re not done yet.”

No. 1 Greenfield (17-3) will await the winner of No. 4 Chicopee (9-7-4) vs. No. 5 South Hadley (11-7-2). They’ll play at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Olympia in West Springfield as the second game of a doubleheader.

“Both teams are good hockey clubs,” Bouchard said. “They made tournament for a reason as well. Interested to see how that plays out on Tuesday. We’ll be prepared for who has to play us.”

The Green wave beat Chicopee 5-0 on Jan. 20 and South Hadley 4-0 five days later.

“Every game is different,” Bouchard said. “Every time the puck drops different things happen. We’re going to prepare ourselves for the best of our ability.”

In the first game at 6 p.m., No. 3 Wahconah (14-3-2) will face No. 6 Belchertown (7-8-3), last year’s sectional finalist. The winner plays No. 2 Amherst (13-4-3) in the semifinals.

The tournament will feature the same top two seeds as last year, but Greenfield and Amherst switched the No. 1 and No. 2 positions from a season ago. Both lost in the semifinals to lower seeded teams.
