GOSHEN — Voters at Saturday’s annual Town Meeting will decide a number of financial items, as well as whether to change the name of the Board of Selectmen to Select Board and reorder when the annual Town Meeting, town election and caucus are held.

“I think it’s fairly perfunctory,” said Dawn Scaparotti, the Finance Committee chairwoman and interim town administrator, of this year’s warrant.

Town Meeting will take place Saturday morning on the field behind the Town Offices adjacent to the playground beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The 25-article warrant has a number of articles on purchasing equipment, including Article 6 which would authorize borrowing $50,000 to purchase a Kubota tractor for the Highway Department.

The total proposed budget for this year is $3.3 million or 4.53% more than the fiscal year 2021 budget of $3,165,850.

Article 24 proposes: the annual town caucus would take place on the second Monday in April instead of the third Monday in March; the annual Town Meeting would be the third Saturday in May instead of the third Monday in May; and the annual town election would be the first Saturday in June instead of the first Saturday in May.

Scaparotti said that this is being proposed in order to make it so that elected officials can be in their posts through the annual Town Meeting.

Town Meeting also will be voting on Article 25, which would petition the state Legislature to change the name of the Board of Selectmen to Select Board. Scaparotti said that the town already uses Select Board in many communications.

Scaparotti said she thinks the turnout at Town Meeting will be smaller than it was last year, due to people being able to go more places and because a Proposition 2 ½ override is not on the warrant like it was last year.
