Cites accomplishments of Council of Governments

Serving as a representative on the Hampshire Council of Governments is an honor and privilege. I say this because the council provides a strong example of local leadership working at its best, along with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

Council representatives come together to seek common ground for their town’s problems and unique challenges. Regional solutions are not always obvious or one-size-fits-all, but the lesson in civics on display during our meetings is that you keep plugging away for the greater good.

To address our future goals, the 15 towns that make up the Hampshire Council of Governments needs to continue to move forward together to accomplish even greater things.

I’m very proud of our tobacco free community partnership, seeking to make smoking history; the Hampshire Solar initiative, providing clean energy and reducing energy costs; and the purchasing co-op, giving consumers better purchasing options. The RSVP volunteers, though, make it all happen — they work tirelessly on events, mailings and other necessary tasks.

I look forward to working on the council’s future goals on behalf of the towns we love and the citizens we represent.
