LEEDS — Two people were hospitalized following a fire early Thursday morning that destroyed a residence at 325 Kennedy Road.
Northampton firefighters arrived at the scene at around 4 a.m. and took approximately half an hour to extinguish the blaze, according to Northampton Assistant Fire Chief Andy Pelis. As there were no hydrants on the scene, a tanker truck was brought in to supply water. Additional water supply was brought in to help from the Hatfield, Deerfield and Westhampton fire departments. Fire departments from Easthampton, Amherst and South Deerfield were also on the scene providing assistance.
Two occupants of the home were injured and taken to a hospital as a result of the fire, the cause of which is still under investigation, Pelis said. The house was completely engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived and is considered a total loss.
According to a city assessor’s map, the address is registered to a Starr and Sherid Adams.
