Hats off to Congressman Jim McGovern for his vow not to accept corporate PAC money. This is a brave stance to take, and it sends a clear message: Big Money in politics corrupts legislators, and that’s unacceptable. He is the first committee chair to take this step. We also deeply appreciate Rep. McGovern’s promotion of a new anti-corruption bill, the For The People Act of 2019 (HR 1). And we applaud the many creative reforms he’s introducing as chairman of the House Rules Committee. As he so often does, Rep. McGovern shared the stage with a prominent mover and shaker. Tiffany Muller, president of End Citizens United, was an appropriate and inspiring choice. His staff also welcomed us, the Western Mass chapter of Represent.Us, to share our clean-elections materials with those who attended. We are fortunate to be represented by this leader, and we wish him the best in his new chairmanship.
