SOUTH DEERFIELD — A driver from Easthampton escaped serious injury after police say he went off the road on Interstate 91, hit another vehicle and rolled his car over onto the median Tuesday afternoon.

Clinton Dawley, 24, of Easthampton, was traveling south on I-91, just after 2:45 p.m., when his Dodge Caliber went off the road to the left, overcorrected and struck a Honda Civic, then rolled over onto the median strip, according to State Police Sgt. Dave McKearney. The accident was before the Deerfield and Conway (Route 116) exit.

The Honda Civic was being driven by Jean Simmons, 71, of Greenfield.

McKearney said he did not think anyone was injured in the crash, and charges are pending. The highway was cleared by 3:10 p.m.

The accident is being investigated by Trooper Matthew Trombley. The Greenfield and South Deerfield fire departments, South County EMS and MedCare Ambulance also responded to the scene.
