GOP tax plan would worsen terrible situation

The cat is out of the bag on the Republican tax cut. Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida admitted the deficits it will create will necessitate cuts to the social safety net.

According to Orrin Hatch of Utah, this is fine because people who receive these “entitlements” won’t “raise a finger to help themselves.”

Maybe this is because 73 percent of them are either elderly or disabled, according to recent analyses. Another 18 percent are already working but can’t make ends meet on meager pay and the increasing cost of living.

According to the Pew Research Center, liberals and conservatives benefit from these programs at the same rate. America already has one of the highest rates of income inequality (OK, a little better than Saudi Arabia) but our child poverty rate is the second highest among developed nations, only a little better than Romania.

The GOP tax plan is a first step in their plan to make this terrible situation worse.
