CUMMINGTON — Voters at Town Meeting approved a $2.7 million budget and a new police cruiser, but deferred action on the revised Central Berkshire School District agreement until a special Town Meeting next month.

The $75,000 cruiser and the change to a full-time officer in the Police Department generated some discussion, Town Clerk Brenda Emerson-Camp reported. The department now consists of one full-time and two part-time officers. The change meant an increase of $35,600 in the police department salary account.

Voters tabled the revised school district agreement because the document had not been posted anywhere before Town Meeting, Emerson-Camp said.

A town forum has been scheduled for June 14 at 6 p.m. for anyone seeking information on the agreement, which is posted on the town website.

Paper copies of the agreement will be made available at the Community House, Creamery and Cummington Supply after June 6.

Fifty-four registered voters and three nonresidents attended the May 3 Town Meeting, Emerson-Camp said, which lasted from 7:05 to 8:50 p.m.
