AMHERST — Several main roads and side streets are being crack-sealed by a private contractor beginning Tuesday.

Work crews from Indus Inc. of Braintree will commence their days at 6 a.m., with projects to be completed including portions of South Pleasant, West, South East, Main and Strong streets, Bay and Stony Hill roads and Dennis Drive.

Motorists should remain 100 feet or more behind the crack-sealing operation as to avoid damaging the newly placed sealers. Parking will be prohibited in areas where the work is underway.

The project will wrap up in one or two weeks. For more information, contact the Department of Public Works at 259-3050 or publicworks@amherstma.gov.
