Cooley Dickinson treating 24 for COVID-19

NORTHAMPTON — As of Tuesday, Cooley Dickinson Hospital was caring for 24 inpatients with confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 13 who are in the intensive care unit.

An additional five inpatients are under investigation for possible COVID-19 infection. A total of 126 patients are under investigation, and the hospital has had 106 COVID-19 tests come back positive to date.

Baystate Health currently has 168 inpatients with confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all of its hospitals. Thirty-four of these patients are in critical care units, and an additional 11 patients are being investigated for possible COVID-19 infection.

The hospital system has tested 2,285 people overall, with 1,696 testing negative, 497 testing positive and 92 pending results.

Statewide, the Massachusetts Department of Health reported 96 more deaths from the coronavirus Tuesday, bringing the state’s total to 356. Massachusetts has 15,202 confirmed cases, with Hampshire County’s total at 158, an increase of 11 from Monday.

A man in his 40s from Franklin County was the youngest person among the state’s fatalities reported Tuesday. Three other deaths were reported from Franklin County; none came from Hampshire County.
