CUMMINGTON — A community outreach meeting for a proposed marijuana facility on Bryant Road proceeded on Monday without controversy.

“We really enjoyed the opportunity to have a dialogue with the community,” said Ted Shagory, a spokesperson for 0 Bryant Rd LLC, which is looking to build a cannabis cultivation facility. It would be the first marijuana enterprise for the company.

Kenneth “Trudge” Howes, who serves on both the Select Board and Zoning Board of Appeals, said that the meeting “seemed to go all right.”

“There wasn’t too much controversy,” Howes said.

He said that the company had questions posed to them on building size, visibility and marijuana odor, and that there didn’t appear to be opposition to it.

“They answered all the questions they were asked,” Howes said.

Shagory said he didn’t sense any resistance to the project at the meeting, and that the three key questions were about addressing environmental impact, marijuana odor and whether the building would be a visual blight.

“All of those things we’ve taken into account,” Shagory said.

The company has plans to mitigate marijuana odor and water runoff, Shagory said. In addition to being set back from the road, he also said the property where the facility would be constructed is above the road.

“Unless you’re looking for it, I don’t think you’re going to see it,” he said.

As for the dimensions of the facility, Shagory said that his company is looking at two 10,000-square-foot buildings, with the idea being that growing areas would be double-stacked to accommodate 20,000 square feet of marijuana canopy.

Shagory said 0 Bryant Rd LLC would next submit an application to the Zoning Board of Appeals and to the sCannabis Control Commission.

A draft host community agreement has been submitted to the Select Board, which it plans to discuss at its next meeting.
