Colleges: UMass men’s lacrosse rallies to beat Ohio State

The UMass men’s lacrosse team scored the game’s last five goals to beat Ohio State, 9-7, Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.

Jeff Trainor and Gabriel Procyk scored two goals each, while Kevin Tobin got the streak going with a goal to end the third quarter.

Procyk finished with three goals. Devin Spencer, Chris Connolly and Mike Tobin scored once apiece.

Matt Knote made 14 saves for UMass (1-1).

Women’s basketball

Amherst 76, Connecticut College 52 — Dani Valdez and Hannah Fox each had 16 points, while Maggie Shipley added 15 for the Mammoths (21-3, 8-2 NESCAC), Saturday.

Saint Louis 71, UMass 56 — The Minutewomen (16-10, 6-7 Atlantic 10) were outscored 22-9 in the third quarter en route to the road loss on Sunday.

Hailey Leidel and Destiney Philoxy each had 18 points. Sam Breen added 13 in defeat.

Babson 104, Mount Holyoke 33 — Annika Brooks had 15 points for the Lyons (1-22, 0-8 NEWMAC), Saturday.

Men’s basketball

Amherst 76, Connecticut College 67 — Fru Che had 24 points, while Garrett Day added 15 for the Mammoths (17-7, 7-3 NESCAC), Saturday.


Oakland 5, UMass 2; University of South Carolina Upstate 1, UMass 0 — Amy Smith had a combined three hits, while Caroline Videtto added two for the Minutewomen (2-2), Saturday in South Carolina.
