Colleges: Amherst women’s volleyball beats Bates in 5 sets

Jamie Dailey and Sophie Launsbach each had 15 kills as the Amherst College women’s volleyball team beat Bates, 3-0, Friday in Lewiston, Maine.

Charlotte Duran added 42 assists in the 25-21, 25-15, 21-25, 20-25, 15-8 victory. Skyleur Savage had 30 digs, while Candace Chung had 22.

Women’s cross country

Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown — Boston University freshman Sophia Jacobs-Townsley (Amherst) placed 41st overall in 18 minutes, 18 seconds on the 3.1-mile Franklin Park course to pace the Terriers, who finished 16th.

Caroline Clark was 49th in 18:26 to lead UMass (17th).

Men’s cross country

Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown — Dawson Bathgate was 49th in 25:19 on the 8-kilometer Franklin Park course to pace the Minutemen, who finished 19th.
