GILL — The body of a 30-year-old Northampton man was pulled out of the Connecticut River Monday afternoon at around 1:30 p.m.

Laurie Loisel, spokesperson for the Northwestern district attorneys office said an investigation is underway and the body is being examined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

State police detectives and the state police Crime Scene Services, Gill/Montague Police, and the Gill Fire Department were on scene most of the afternoon after discovering the body in the river, Loisel said.

Gill Fire Chief Gene Beaubien confirmed the department was dispatched at 1:31 ap.m. and remained on scene until 3:45 p.m.

No additional information was available Tuesday.
