SOUTH HADLEY — A body discovered in a secluded, wooded area off of Old Lyman Road on Monday has been identified as belonging to 26-year-old Christopher Ganieany of Ludlow, who was reported missing on Sept. 1.

South Hadley police are working with state police assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s office for the investigation.

“The investigation is ongoing,” said South Hadley Police Chief Steve Parentela. “We have some questions about the circumstances that we’re going to be investigating.”

The medical examiner is currently in the process of determining cause of death.
