BELCHERTOWN — A 37-year-old Belchertown man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a guardrail on Amherst Road (Route 9) Wednesday night, according to police.

Jason Zolendziewski was riding one of three motorcycles traveling east together on Amherst Road shortly after 8 p.m. when he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into a guardrail, police said.

Zolendziewski apparently failed to negotiate a curve at 102 Amherst Road, said Police Chief Christopher Pronovost. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Belchertown police officers and firefighters responded to the scene following a 911 call at 8:22 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation by Belchertown police, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Northwestern district attorney’s office.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
