Tuesday’s summer baseball: Northampton walks off with Sandy Koufax playoff win over Mohawk

Jack Power drove in Owen Shelffo in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Northampton walked off to beat Mohawk 7-6 in the first round of the Sandy Koufax playoffs Tuesday.

The double over the right fielder capped a three-run rally by Northampton with two outs.

Shelffo had three hits and two RBIs, and Jayden Darling added three hits and an RBI.

Colin Ferrara picked up the win on the mound. He entered in the third inning and allowed just one run the rest of the game.

Northampton will host Amherst in the next round at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Northampton High School.

Granby 8, Dalton 7 — After Dalton tied the game 5-5 in the top of the fifth, Granby scored two in the bottom of the inning and another in the sixth. It allowed two in the top of the seventh, but relief pitcher David Carey helped them wriggle off the hook to hold on in the Sandy Koufax playoffs in Granby.

Granby will face No. 3 Frontier, Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in Granby.

Nolan Sullivan led Granby with three hits and drove in three runs. Jared Hubbard had two hits and drove in two, while Dallas Elliott had a double.

Mickey Mantle

Amherst 5, Mohawk 4 — J.B. Mills lined a walk-off single to right field for Amherst in a road win.

Logan Dapprich scored the game-winning run and pitched 6⅓ innings. Dapprich left with the game tied, giving up six hits and four earned runs.

Thea Hanscom got the final two outs of the sixth with a strikeout to pick up the win.

Evan Hu had two singles for Amherst (11-5), while Ryan Dwyer doubled with a run scored.

Luke Leonard was on base twice with two walks and a couple runs scored.
