SUNDERLAND — Sunderland Police are looking for any information on a possible attempted abduction that happened around 9 a.m. Sunday on River Road.

A female running with her dog on River Road (Route 47, south of central Sunderland) reported she was approached by a man in a “brownish” SUV, who told her to “get in” and then left his vehicle and approached her on foot, according to a press release from the Sunderland Police Department.

She continued running and yelled “no.” Another car was approaching, and the suspect got back in his car and left, the press release says.

The suspect was described as having a prominent facial bone structure, very short hair, possibly wearing a red shirt and light-colored pants. The SUV was last seen heading south on Route 47 in Sunderland, the press release says.

Sunderland Police are now seeking information from anyone who may have seen the incident or who may know anything about it, including anyone with a home surveillance system who lives on Route 47 between central Sunderland and Hadley.

The phone number for the Sunderland Police Station is (413) 665-7036. The after-hours phone number is (413) 625-8200.

The Sunderland Police Department was not available to comment or give any more information.
