Area briefs: Salsa in the Park returns; Private garden tour in Holyoke; Hatfield senior selling art work

NORTHAMPTON — Salsa in the Park kicks off next week, featuring salsa, bachata, merengue and cumbia at Pulaski Park in downtown Northampton.
Salsa in the Park features McCoy Jamison, a renowned dance instructor and disc jockey, DJ Bongohead, spinning rare vinyl from his collection, and the Salsa Train Orquestra, a vibrant Salsa music group.
All shows run from 6-8 p.m. on the following dates:
■Tuesday, Aug. 6: Salsa in the Park with McCoy Jamison.
■Tuesday, Aug. 13: Salsa in the Park with McCoy Jamison.
■Tuesday, Aug. 27: Salsa in the Park with DJ Bongohead.
■Tuesday, Sept. 3: Salsa in the Park with DJ Bongohead.
■Saturday, Sept. 7: Salsa in the Park Live with The Salsa Train Orquestra and Dj Bongohead.

HOLYOKE — Rock Valley Paradise in Holyoke will be among three private gardens in the region having public visitations during the Garden Conservation Open Days on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Holyoke garden includes a small orchard of 15 fruit trees, such as apples, peaches, plums, pears, apricots, and cherries, and seasonally grows five kinds of tomatoes, along with cucumbers, peppers, squash, eggplant, and other vegetables.
Also at Rock Valley Paradise is a homestead with two dairy goats, a dozen chickens and a hive of honey bees.
Other gardens on the tour are A Country Garden in the City and Our Color-Filled Retreat, both in Springfield.
The tours are organized The Garden Conservancy, a national nonprofit organization founded in 1989 by planstman Frank Cabot. The organization is dedicated to saving and sharing outstanding American gardens for the education and inspiration of the public.
Registration is $10 per person, or $5 for members of the Garden Conservancy. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

HATFIELD — An art show and sale of original work by Hatfield senior citizens is being held Friday at the Hatfield Senior Center, 59 Main St.
The public is invited to attend the event, which will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Entrance is through the rear door at Memorial Town Hall.
All original framed paintings by seniors will be $30, with proceeds benefiting the town’s Council on Aging.
