Museum to feature ‘Coolidge and the Road to the White House’ talk

NORTHAMPTON — The Coolidge Standing Committee of the Trustees of Forbes Library invites the public to the annual meeting of the Coolidge Museum on Thursday, Oct. 17, in person at the museum or livestreaming on YouTube.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with highlights of the past year and plans for the future as the museum celebrates the centennial of the Coolidge administration.

At 6:45 p.m., Julie Bartlett Nelson, head of the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Library & Museum, will give a talk entitled “Coolidge and the Road to the White House.” The talk will chronicle Coolidge’s three decades of public service and the local and state political career that paved the way to his presidency.

Forum on state ballot questions in South Hadley

SOUTH HADLEY — Know Your Town of South Hadley will sponsor a forum on the five state ballot questions on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6:30 p.m., in the Community Room of the South Hadley Public Library on Canal Street.

There will be a speaker to the Vote Yes, and one for the Vote No, for each of the five ballot questions. Speakers will have up to five minutes to speak to their side of the question.

Audience members will then have the opportunity to ask questions of the speakers or to make public comments at the microphone.

MassMammals expert to talk about tracking bears

AMHERST — “Tracking Bears and Other Mammals” is the title of a presentation at the Bangs Community Center, Room 101, 70 Boltwood Walk, Friday at 12:30 p.m.

The talk will be led by representatives from MassMammals and is part of the Amherst Historical Society and Museum’s History Bites lecture series, which regularly has lunchtime guests speak about historical and contemporary topics.

Free vaccine clinic in South Hadley

SOUTH HADLEY — The town of South Hadley has partnered with Walgreens to offer a drive-thru vaccine clinic on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 2-6 p.m., at Beers & Story, 646 Newton St.

Available vaccines include flu, COVID, RSV, Shingrix, Tdap and Pneumococcal.
