PLAINFIELD — A Monday morning fire destroyed a barn on the grounds of Earthdance Creative Living.

Firefighters were called to the 252 Prospect St. property shortly before 7 a.m., said Assistant Fire Chief David Alvord.

The barn — located about 60 feet from the main building at the artist-run workshop and retreat center — was engulfed in flames when the first firefighters arrived.

Firefighters were at the scene for about four hours, Alvord said, requiring nearly an hour to knock down the flames.

The Plainfield Fire Department sent three trucks and 10 firefighters to the scene, Alvord said. The Cummington Fire Department assisted with three trucks and seven firefighters.
