Weekend prep schools: Caroline Borden’s strong debut leads Williston girls cross country

Caroline Borden of Amherst dominated her first meet with the Williston Northampton girls cross country team Saturday as the Wildcats beat Kent 15-50 in Easthampton.

Borden finished the 3.1-mile race in 21 minutes, 3 seconds for a 41-second victory.

Maddy Scott (Westhampton) came in third at 21:53, Natalie Aquadro (Northampton) was fifth at 22:15 and Pinky King (South Hadley) 10th at 23:07 for the Wildcats (1-0).

Boys cross country

Williston 23, Kent 34 — Nick Hill (Northampton) completed the 3.1-mile course Saturday in Easthampton in 16:51, which cut 30 seconds off his previous best time.

Rob Champigny (16:18) finished second overall in leading the Wildcats (1-0) the the win.

Boys soccer

Canterbury 3, Williston 2 — Imran Hayatu-Deen and Davis Smith scored once apiece in the loss for the Wildcats (0-1) in their season opener at New Milford, Connecticut.

Field hockey

St. Mark’s 3, Williston 0 — Morgan Fogleman made six saves but the Wildcats (0-1) dropped their season opener in Easthampton.

Boys water polo

Choate 16, Williston 9; Brunswick 18, Williston 10 — The Wildcats (0-2) dropped a pair of games played at Deerfield Academy to open the season Saturday.
