Tuesday’s college recaps: Amherst College remains undefeated in women’s basketball

Two 25-point scorers led the Amherst College women’s basketball team over RIC, 74-63, as the Lord Jeffs remained undefeated on Tuesday night.

Megan Roberston and Jaimie Renner combined for the 50 points in the road victory. Renner was 13 of 16 from the line and 2 for 2 from beyond the arc for the Jeffs (11-0).

Cheyenne Pritchard added 10 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.

The Jeffs led 29-25 at halftime, but outpaced RIC 45-38 in the second half.

Smith College 58, MIT 53 — Rosa Drummond’s double-double lead the Pioneers to a conference win over MIT on the road.

Drummond scored a game-high 18 points and added 14 boards. Paulina Solis added 11 for Smith (3-7, 3-4 NEWMAC).

Babson 67, Mount Holyoke 42 — Kate Karraker led the Lyons with 15 points, but the effort wasn’t enough as they fell on the road.

Nicole DeMarchena (Amherst) had 10 rebounds and six blocks for Mount Holyoke (4-7, 1-5 NEWMAC).

Men’s Basketball

Amherst 94, ECSU 81 — Connor Green put up 21 points to lead five double-digit scorers in a home win for the Jeffs (8-2).

David Kalema followed with 19 points.

Aaron Toomey added 18 points, while Tom Killian had 14 and Ben Pollack 12.

Women’s Ice Hockey

Amherst 4, Cortland 0 — The Jeffs earned their fourth shutout of the season behind two two-goal periods at home on Tuesday.

Erin Martin and Eileen Harris scored six minutes apart in the first period. Sara Culhane netted two third-period goals 12 minutes apart.

Goalie Yuna Evans made seven saves for the Jeffs (6-2-2).
