Gail Lansky: Listener’s heart warmed by voices of all ages at Northampton Arts Council concert

Last modified: Monday, March 18, 2013

To the editor:

Hats off to Bob Cilman and the Northampton Arts Council for the “PS22 & The Scitech Band Meet Young@Heart” concert on Feb. 17.

Switching the venue to John M. Greene Hall at Smith College from the Academy of Music must have been logistically daunting for all involved. No one watching would have known of the last-minute change, for the event was seamless.

The closing song, “Forever Young” by Bob Dylan and performed by PS22 (a fifth-grade chorus from Staten Island, N.Y.) and Young@Heart brought tears to my eyes.

What a wonderful way to spend a cold February afternoon being warmed by the voices and instruments of musicians and singers that spanned more than 70 years!
