Wednesday’s colleges: Rosa Drummond hits 1,000-point milestone for Smith College

Rosa Drummond scored the 1,000th point of her career as the Smith College women’s basketball team beat Clark 71-56 Wednesday in Northampton.

Drummond scored eight points to became the 10th member of the Pioneers’ 1,000-point club.

Paulina Solis led Smith (20-2, 14-1 NEWMAC) with 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Devon Quattrocchi and Sydney Parkmond hit double-figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

WPI 65, Mount Holyoke 52 — Angelica Pascual (15 points), Jennine Vizcaino (14) and Kate Karraker (11) all reached double figures but the Lyons (5-15, 3-13 NEWMAC) fell at home.

Women’s hockey

Norwich 3, Amherst 1 — Emily Flom scored on a power play but the Lord Jeffs (10-8-1) fell at home.

Women’s squash

Amherst 6, Mount Holyoke 3 — The 16th-ranked Lord Jeffs (13-7) fell behind 3-0 but came back to beat the No. 20 Lyons in South Hadley.
