Amherst College sweeps Emmanuel in basketball doubleheader

Six players scored in double figures as the Amherst College men’s basketball team beat Emmanuel 84-58 Tuesday in Boston.

David Kalema had 17 points, six assists and five steals to pace the Lord Jeffs (6-1). Aaron Toomey (six rebounds), Peter Kaasila (six boards) and Connor Green each had 12 points. Willy Workman of Northampton added 10 points, six rebounds and two blocks.

Women’s basketball

Amherst College 74, Emmanuel 61 — Five players reached double figures as the Lord Jeffs (6-0) remained undefeated with the win in Boston.

Jasmine Hardy had 18 points and seven rebounds, while Marcia Voigt had 17 points and five rebounds.

Bridget Crowley and Megan Robertson (12 rebounds) each had 11 points, and Savannah Holness added 10 points.

Smith College 73, Springfield College 56 — Paulina Solis had 19 points and seven rebounds, while Devon Quattrocchi added 18 points, six assists and five boards as the Pioneers (5-1, 3-0 NEWMAC) won in Springfield.

Rosa Drummond chipped in with 10 points.
