Hampshire County towns to hold 9/11 ceremonies

AMHERST — A 9/11 commemoration ceremony will be held at the Central Fire Station, at 68 North Pleasant St., at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Amherst firefighters and police officers, along with town officials, will mark the 18th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, D.C., by ringing the fire bell, lowering the U.S. flag, having a moment of silence and a prayer by the fire chaplain. The ceremony will conclude with the raising of the flag.

EASTHAMPTON — In honor of the victims of 9/11, the Easthampton Fire Department will hold its annual remembrance ceremony from 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Fire Department is at 32 Payson Ave.

HADLEY — Hadley’s Fire and Police departments will hold a 9/11 memorial service Wednesday. The service starts at 9:45 a.m. on the front steps of the Town Hall and will honor 9/11 victims with the ringing of bells, a half-mast flag, a moment of silence and prayer.

NORTHAMPTON — A 9/11 memorial service will be held at the Northampton Fire Department Headquarters at 36 Carlon Drive. The service will begin at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday.
