AMHERST — A continuing project to rebuild a section of Route 9 will affect the intersection of Northampton Road and South Pleasant Street on Tuesday.

Crews from Caracas Construction are expected to be working at the intersection from 6 a.m. until at least 3 p.m. There are likely to be delays and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

The $5.9 million project on Northampton Road, which will be finished in 2024, includes replacing town utilities, relocating utility poles and installing a multi-use path.

On Wednesday, sanitary sewer repairs at the intersection of West Street and East Hadley Road will also cause delays between 2 and 10 a.m. The overnight start is aimed at reducing traffic congestion.

For more information about the projects, contact the Department of Public Works at 259-3050 or publicworks@amherstma.gov
