Tessa Kawall scored a team-high 17 points, and the Amherst girls basketball team picked up a 47-44 win over West Springfield on Wednesday night in Amherst.

The Hurricanes led 27-16 at halftime and 40-29 entering the fourth quarter before the visiting Terriers made things interesting.

Zola Higham added seven points in the victory, while Sophie Higham had six points and Delaney Macphetres tosse in five.
