AMHERST — An incident in which gunshots were reportedly fired during a party at a South Amherst home Thursday night continues to be investigated by Amherst and State Police.

Amherst Police Detective Sgt. Richard MacLean said in a release issued by the department that officers responded at 11:37 p.m. to a home at 730 West St. for an active disturbance.

Officers discovered a large gathering, both inside and outside the residence.

While some property was damaged at the site, no one at the scene was injured, MacLean said.

In addition, efforts to locate anyone who may have been injured prior to leaving the location were unsuccessful.
