NORTHAMPTON – A 65-year-old woman was injured when the car she was driving flipped over on Easthampton Road near Ernie’s Towing, Monday morning.

A portion of the road was closed to traffic as police investigated. The road reopened around 3:30 p.m., police said.

Police said a witness saw the car, a red Honda, veer into the opposite lane prior to the crash, driving another vehicle off the road. The car then returned to the travel lane, before drifting back over and off the road, hitting a property sign and then a snow bank, which catapulted the car into a tree.

The car came to rest flipped over, and the driver was partially ejected. Police said there were no other occupants in the car and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Police said the call came in at about 11:45 a.m., and that there was around a 2-minute response time.

The driver was transported to Baystate Medical Center and Northampton Police said as of 3 p.m, she was in stable condition. The crash remains under investigation.
